The SSA is pleased to announce the full details for our Autumn production, which will be a double header presented at Hayling Island’s Station Theatre.
Terence Rattigan’s Harlequinade will be directed by long time friend of the SSA Steve Blackham, and is a farcical gem about a classical theatre company whose mission is to take culture to the masses in late 1940’s Britain. The scene for the play is a dress rehearsal for Romeo & Juliet, in a town somewhere in the Midlands. Leading lights Arthur Gosport (yes, really..) and his wife Edna have played the roles many, many times before. Everything is in place and nothing can go wrong…….can it? The expo for this wonderfully affectionate celebration of the lunatic art of putting on a play is on Thursday 15th June, 7.30pm, SSA HQ, followed by auditions on Monday 17th and Sunday 23rd July. The first read through will be on Wednesday 26th July and rehearsals will start on Sunday 24th September, for a cast of about 17 (11m/6f).
Loose Canon is an affectionate tribute to the genius of William Shakespeare brought (dragged?) together by SSA stalwarts Vin Adams, Rob Bartlett , David Pearson, Aaron Holdaway and Paula Bartlett. The contents are a closely guarded secret so you’ll just have to buy a ticket to find out more!
Our Autumn double-header will be presented at the Station Theatre from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 11th November. Details of how to get tickets will be posted here later this year.
